UCLM welcomes Italian secondary school students through the COLOURS Alliance

A group of pre-university students from Italy has visited Spain as part of exchange and outreach activities promoted by COLOURS Alliance. The initiative aims to connect universities with secondary schools across Europe and introduce prospective students to international academic environments.

The visit took place at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), where the group explored the campuses in Toledo and Cuenca. The delegation included twelve students and three teachers from secondary schools in Ferrara, Italy. They were welcomed by the vice-rector for International Policy and Global Alliances, Raúl Martín.

The visit builds on contacts established in the summer of 2025 during a mission from the Spanish university to the University of Ferrara. At that time, meetings were held with the leadership of the schools IIS G.B. Aleotti and Liceo Artistico Dosso Dossi to explore cooperation in future Erasmus+ projects and to present study opportunities within the alliance.

According to the organisers, the activity reflects the Alliance’s goal of building links not only between universities but also with earlier stages of education. Through these initiatives, COLOURS partners seek to strengthen European cooperation and encourage student mobility from secondary school to higher education.

The Italian students, aged between 18 and 20, are completing the final year of an arts-focused secondary programme specialising in graphic communication. During their stay, they visited academic facilities and services on both campuses, with a particular focus on the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cuenca, where they received information about study programmes and research activities.

The programme also included meetings with local schools and arts institutions, as well as guided visits to the historic centres of Toledo and Cuenca. Both cities are recognised as UNESCO World Heritage sites and host important university facilities.
