The Imagine Innovation Workshop

The Imagine Innovation Workshop, a micro-credential course organized by Prof. Sandrine Labory and Academic Manager Elisa Pampolini, was facilitated by Julius Soutine, an innovation advisor from the University of Kristianstadt in Sweden. Held on September 11 and 12 at the new COLOURS Student Entrepreneur Centre (SEC) at the University of Ferrara, the workshop gathered 37 Unife students. Hosted by COLOURS Unife, this event offered students a unique chance to explore Applied Design Thinking, a renowned approach to innovation and problem-solving developed at Stanford University.

Guided by the expert Julius, students brainstormed and proposed solutions to enhance the SEC’s effectiveness in attracting students and creating a welcoming work environment, along with offering high-quality activities to enrich their professional curriculum. After two days of collaboration, students presented their ideas and suggestions, including:

Improving Communication Strategy: Suggestions included more detailed online communication and integrating new technologies in the physical space, such as interactive digital boards that connect with smartphones to guide participants to events. These boards could also support Ferrara’s digitalization efforts, aiding new students, Erasmus participants, and tourists in exploring the city. Brief information on attractions or events could be displayed on these boards.

  • Creating an Ideal Student Environment: Ideas included transforming the SEC into a dream space for students, featuring not only academic activities but also a healthy and friendly atmosphere where like-minded individuals can gather, relax, and foster creativity. Suggestions included a game room, gym, mindfulness exploration, and a 24/7 library/study area.
  • Hands-On Projects with Stakeholders: Proposals involved hands-on projects with various stakeholders, such as businesses and industries. Collaborative projects with these stakeholders were valued as a means to find practical solutions based on real-world contexts. High-quality internships with COLOURS’ partners were also emphasized as a learning opportunity.

The COLOURS team greatly values the participants’ contributions and suggestions, taking all ideas into account. The COLOURS alliance is dedicated to organizing more activities, including additional micro-credential courses, workshops, student exchanges, and conferences.
