The European Student Assembly (ESA) is back for another inspiring edition, and we couldn’t be more excited! This prestigious annual event brings together students from across Europe, giving them a platform to shape the continent’s future through policy recommendations and meaningful discussions. This year, we are proud to announce that four exceptional students from COLOURS European University Alliance will represent us at ESA25 in Strasbourg!
What is ESA and Why is It Important?
ESA is a unique opportunity for students whose university is part of one of the 64 European University Alliances. The selection process began in November 2024, and after months of preparation, our representatives are ready to contribute their ideas to the future of Europe. But why should students participate in ESA?
- Amplify your voice: Join fellow students from diverse backgrounds, fields, and study levels to discuss Europe’s pressing issues.
- Build a student network: Connect with like-minded peers across European University Alliances (EUAs).
- Engage in decision-making: Advocate for a stronger connection between citizens and policymakers through deliberative processes.
- Influence European politics: Inspire change at local, national, and EU levels to strengthen European democracy.
Key Topics of ESA25
This year, ESA25 will focus on eight crucial topics through policy recommendations:
- Mentally (un)stable – Addressing mental health challenges in Europe.
- Greener tomorrow – Shaping policies for environmental sustainability.
- AI, European democracy, & civic engagement – Understanding the role of artificial intelligence in governance.
- Innovation for all – Ensuring equal access to technological advancements.
- Education beyond graduation – Rethinking lifelong learning and skill development.
- Living with dignity – Tackling social justice and economic security.
- Unveiling inequalities – Addressing disparities across European societies.
- Unity in diversity – Strengthening European identity through inclusion and cultural exchange.
Meet Our COLOURS Alliance Representatives!
Four outstanding students will represent COLOURS at ESA25, each working on one of these critical topics:

Zofia Piwowarska from JDU (Poland) applied to ESA25 to address pressing issues affecting young people today. She believes in raising awareness among European politicians and advocating for meaningful changes that can improve the lives of students across the continent.
Piergiorgio Mazzotti from UNIFE (Italy) is convinced that students at ESA25 have the power to drive change. He views the event as a place where thought and action unite, enabling young minds to shape a better and more progressive Europe.
Maxima Altenbäumer from UPB (Germany) looks forward to working alongside talented young minds from across Europe. She sees ESA25 as an opportunity to gain diverse perspectives, contribute to policy making, and create lasting connections that will help drive positive change.
What Happens After ESA25?
The journey doesn’t end in Strasbourg! After the Assembly, our COLOURS representatives will take their insights and policy recommendations back to their home institutions. They will organize engaging events, discussions, and initiatives to share their ideas with stakeholders, policymakers, companies, and NGOs—turning words into action!
