International Summer School: Labour Law Regulation and Industrial Relations at Company Level in the Context of the Green and Digital Transitions by HKR

Date: May 12, 2025 — Jun 16, 2025

Event type: In Person

Status: Closed for application

As part of the European University Alliance COLOURS, the course Labour Law Regulation and Industrial Relations at Company Level in the Context of the Green and Digital Transitions (3 ECTS) will be offered in May 2025 as a COLOURS Summer School.

The Summer School is aimed at students who are interested in deepening their understanding of how the green and digital transitions are affecting working life. These transitions are societal developments that significantly influence the economy and production, giving rise to new questions and challenges for companies, trade unions, and individual employees.

Against this background, the course targets students who wish to understand how companies and trade unions, within the framework of labour law, manage these issues and challenges at the company level and from an operational perspective. Participants will gain insight into the questions and challenges the green and digital transitions pose for companies and trade unions, as well as into the legal frameworks that regulate their relationships at the company level.

The course has a sector-specific focus, developed through selected case studies. The 2025 edition of the course will focus on the food industry. Teaching is delivered through lectures and workshops, and includes a case study with a field visit to a company in the Kristianstad region. This offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain insight into working life and to engage with professionals who deal with human resource issues from various perspectives.

The Summer School is provided as commissioned education within the EU-funded alliance “COLOURS” (COLlaborative innOvative sUstainable Regional univerSities). Students from institutions within the alliance will participate. In an intercultural setting, participants will learn about the legal and institutional frameworks that regulate the relationships between employers, employees, and trade unions in Sweden—at the company level and from an operational perspective—as well as from an international comparative viewpoint.
