CoLab “Higher Education and Workforce in the Region” in Ventspils, Latvia

On November 28, in the Science Center “VIZIUM” in Ventspils, Latvia, Ventspils University of Applied Sciences will host the CoLab “Higher Education and Workforce in the Region,” bringing together academic staff, students, community representatives, and policymakers to discuss the challenges of regional development and explore opportunities for collaboration. The forum in Ventspils will be organized according to the “Quadruple Helix” model, promoting discussion among higher education representatives, entrepreneurs, society, and policymakers.

To address how higher education can better align with the region’s labor market needs and promote economic growth, the forum will feature a seminar, a discussion panel, and a workshop.

Experts who will speak at the seminar:

  • Dr. Annette Klinkert, COLOURS European University Alliance Managing Director – “The COLOURS Alliance and Its Benefits for the Region”
  • Dace Štefenberga, Project manager of the COLORS alliance at VUAS – “Higher education and cooperation in the development of the region – VUAS in the COLOURS alliance”
  • Jānis Vītoliņš, Chairman of the Ventspils State City Municipal Council – “Ventspils and Regional Economic Development Through Education and Workforce Cooperation”
  • Baiba Kūma, Kurzeme Planning Region, Manager of the Business Center – “The Kurzeme Planning Region and Ventspils University of Applied Sciences – A Joint Approach to Regional Development Challenges”
  • Gvido Grīnbergs, Head of EDIH North Kurzeme Contact Point, Ventspils High Technology Park “Improving Workforce Digital Skills Through Training”
  • Raita Rollande, TestDevLab School Chief Executive Officer – “TestDevLab’s Collaboration with Higher Education Institutions for Quality New Specialist Training”
  • Maksims Kovaļenko, SIA “Immer digital” Production Director – “The Workforce Challenges and Opportunities for Collaboration with Educational Institutions at SIA ImmerDigital.”

The discussion panel will address the impact of regional development and higher education on the local economy, with representatives from businesses, Ventspils State City Council, and the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences rector and VUAS Business Management student.
