On 20 February 2026 (08:30–18:00) the University Language Centre (Centro Linguistico di Ateneo) of the University of Ferrara and CIDAS, a social cooperative active in supporting the linguistic and social integration of migrants, in collaboration with the COLOURS university alliance, will hold a one‑day event on inclusive and intercultural approaches to teaching Italian as a second language (L2). The conference will take place in the Aula Magna of Palazzo Turchi di Bagno, Corso Ercole I d’Este 32, Ferrara, Italy.

Who should attend

The event is aimed at Italian language teachers at all levels and trainee teachers. It is particularly relevant for educators working with migrant students and learners with limited formal schooling.

What participants will gain

  • Attendees will receive practical, classroom‑ready strategies for managing multilingual and multicultural groups, tools to design inclusive lessons, and ready‑to‑use materials and approaches.
  • Topics include promoting classroom interaction and interlanguage development, inclusive methods for learners with low literacy, non‑verbal communication and playful teaching techniques, and the use of editorial resources and digital platforms.
  • The day also offers opportunities for professional exchange and networking.
