About the Event

The European University Alliance COLOURS invites professionals, students, and researchers to participate in the “Cleaning Up with the Law: EU Perspectives on Sustainable Waste Management” roundtable.

The round table will be an online event, held on June 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., dedicated to celebrating World Environment Day. The event is organised by the Faculty of Law Osijek (UNIOS) in collaboration with guests from the EDUC European Digital UniverCity Alliance (University of Pecs and Masaryk University).

This is a dynamic roundtable event that brings together legal experts and environmental practitioners to explore how European legal frameworks are shaping sustainable waste management practices. With a focus on the COLOURS regions and more detailed on Croatia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, the event highlights innovative approaches, legal obligations, and community-level actions that support the shift toward a circular economy and smarter, cleaner cities.

This event is part of the COLOURS Community of Practice (CoP) networking series. The Community of Practice aims to serve as a platform for connecting industry, businesses, and other stakeholders interested in Smart Specialization Areas (SSA) with stakeholders from 9 regions (Sweden, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, North Macedonia, Latvia, and Croatia). This event focuses on the Smart Specialisation Area Green Transition (SDG 13).

What to Expect

Attendees can look forward to an exchange of ideas, practical case studies, and forward-
thinking discussions about waste law and policy. Experts from various fields will share insights on citizens’ smart waste systems, waste financing, and waste management.
